Trixie’s turn to think up Halloween costumes for the Bob-Whites to wear while working at the charity haunted house very nearly turned out to be a disaster, since she apparently couldn’t count to seven, which left Dan to wonder just what he was getting into, as he glanced at the costume she provided him at the last moment – which consisted of a sheet with some holes cut in it – and nodded.

policeman

When they reached the discount store which had opened up right next to the police station, Trixie hurried inside and headed straight for where they kept the cable ties, only to be distracted by the lawn ornament section, where she picked up a small statue of a stout policeman, which would be just perfect for the sergeant’s desk, if she ever got up the nerve to give it to him.

Original sentence: When they reached the police station, Trixie hurried inside and headed for the sergeant’s desk.
